In the summer of 2013 ZEST COLLECTIVE collaborator, Cody Perkins traveled from Los Angeles to New York City to pursue a career in fashion and dance photography. We became roommates.
Perkins approached me with the idea of creating a photo-documentary entitled 'GODS.' I found this opportunity a wonderful means to connect and explore our varied, shared and alternative realities.
The final document explores male and female sensibilities in relation to the Sun and Earth. I shot alongside my friend and co-worker, Tyler Brown. The shoot took place late September at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, just outside of the Van Cortlandt House Museum.
When thinking of a title for the video (because I was still “riding a wave of film-documentation”) I arbitrarily chose an orange-colored title screen and named the work, "ZEST" - thus the seed of ZEST COLLECTIVE was planted, although not entirely realized.
